Baby Update

Since my last post we have had 5 new cria.  Unfortunately we had a little still born black boy, but far more luckily the other 4 have all been girls!

Firstly Lucida gave birth to a lovely light brown girl sired by Jack.
Gladiolus
Next came Dahlia's gorgeous girl Golden Garland.

The next two births happened on the same day and rather surprised us, one just after lunch and one at 6pm.  Both were sired by Qjori and both were brown girls.

First was out of Halo.
Gypsy Rose
and then Clovers...
Gardenia
Grandiflora continues to do well.

Finally an update!

It would appear I have slipped a bit updating my blog.  Not because there is nothing going on but more because there is so much...most of it run of the mill, however, the last couple of weeks have brought some more noteworthy news.

A week and a half ago we saw our first cria born on our farm.  We were delighted that Moselle produced us a lovely brown girl, sired by Van Diemen Qjori of Patou.  Unfortunately Moselle prolapsed delivering her, she was a very big girl!  However, the vets were able to sort things quickly and she was right as rein within minutes.  There was no looking back and her cria goes from strength to strength.  Lets hope our the remainder of our cria are equally good results.

This weekend I had a fabulous time at Newton Abbot & South Devon Canine Society Open Show.  Pearl, our pointer puppy, was awarded Best Puppy in Breed.  Then Nettie, our seven month old HWV pup won her Open class, beating some older, top winning competition to gain Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed.  This meant I had two puppies in the puppy group ring, which is unheard of for me who isn't very often seen out showing!  Just to add the icing on the cake, Nettie was later awarded Puppy Group 4.

My face was a picture when Nettie was awarded Puppy Group 4 - thank goodness Sam of Farlap Photography was there to capture the moment on camera....!

Update from France

It was lovely to get an update from Hettie's owners in France today (Hettie is Nettie's sister).  She had been to a practice working test and was the youngest there by some way.  However, she completed all the retrieves albeit having a bit of fun on the way back!  A really great start for them since they are both novices!

We look forward to following her progress.

End of an era

Yesterday we said goodbye to Jasper.  He had lived with us over 15 years with hardly a days illness in all that time.  He was the first dog Richard and I owned together and we couldn't have wished for a better introduction to dog ownership.

He has left a huge hole in our hearts but some wonderful memories in our heads.  He is now reunited with his best friend of 13 years Keifer

May madness

We have had a busy but lovely weekend.  Saturday saw a visit from Julia and Kevin, who bred our Zar.  I was glad that they had chance to see him in the flesh again and think they were pleased with how he was looking.

The alpacas have been enjoying the drier weather today.

We were visited by Hazel Drew and her lovely girls Pip and Fizz for a spot of training today.  Firstly the pups went out and then a couple of the older dogs.

Spring update

I thought an update was long overdue.  As usual it is busy, busy, busy here but not much news.

The puppies have started leaving us and we are looking forward to a quieter life shortly!  One will be staying extra especially longer since she will be heading over to France.  The ones that have left are doing very well and we look forward to monitoring their progress.  This litter has been a bit special since we own both parents, a first for us!

The cats are doing well although I am afraid there is no photo update.

The alpacas are no doubt enjoying this brighter spell and I hope the cooler spell we are due this week doesn't last too long.

What a beautiful weekend

The lovely weather this weekend provided the perfect opportunity to get out and about with dogs and alpacas.  Below are some pictures of the puppies and alpacas in the very welcome sunshine.
