All Action at Amiryck

We have had a busy week this week - in particular today...

Today has seen the arrival of Cally's puppies, all nine of them - five bitches and four dogs. Mum and babies are doing well, as can be seen below.

As if that was not enough excitement for one day, Moselle decided to have her cria a few days early. A beautiful dark brown/black boy. He is also doing well.

Moselle is being a fabulous first time mum and as you can see is relaxed with the Elma meeting other members of the family (watched closely of course by us).

Herby did us proud on Tuesday at Paignton Championship Dog Show and won Reserve Best Dog - not bad at 15 months old.

And lastly a picture of the ducklings who are growing VERY fast.

April

I was absolutely thrilled to receive this photo today of April taken by Sam of Farlap Photography. This was taken yesterday at Dunster Fair where April won the Post Graduate Pointer Class.

Halter Training Revisited

It was definitely about time our youngsters got back on the halter (I mean the alpacas!). So we took the opportunity today to give them a short burst on the halter.

Some of them remember what it is all about better than others.

Dorrigo is the ultimate pro (above and below)
Dill remembered he doesn't like it at all but he can stand still!
and Dahlia obviously took tips from him..

Dyer was fairly chilled out about it...

Here with Daucus, who was also good.
Erica had her first go as well
Unfortunately there are no photos of Danika since she spent most of the time in the air!

July already!

I haven't much to report at the moment. There are ups and downs but at the moment all the animals are still enjoying the sunshine...

Cally is looking very well

As is Erica, who we are still very pleased with

Dyer, one of our Jack cria from last year still looks very smart
and the Pekins are grown up and have started laying

VIP visitor

We are very pleased to have Daisy's brother (Cally's son) Tennant to visit for a few days. As you can see there is a family resemblance.

Proving that he can retrieve...
And stack...
For both of us!
Richard is finding it a real hardship! Tennant on the right, Cally his mum on the left.
Reacquainting himself with the alpaca.
and yes the alpaca are all in fine form.

Enjoyable Day

Today I took Ronnie to visit her husband from last year Patou's Sir Columbus. He did such a good job with Erica that we were thrilled to be able to use him again.

It occurred to me today that I hadn't posted any pictures of the alpaca since we had them sheared so camera in hand I went to capture them. They do look so different without fleece!

As always the dogs had their fair share of photos taken.

The wires...

Apple...
April...
The girls with their new haircuts...
The beautiful Erica - lets hope we get an equally good result next year - no pressure there then Mr Columbus!
and Erica again...
Cinnamon proves she can still look impressive without her fleece!

Bath and West Show 2010

We have just returned from a lovely few days at the Bath and West Show. No photos of the camping set up from us - we just can't compete with the Patou facilities!!!

We didn't take any animals but Amiryck did come home with a couple of rosettes! Chris and Isla took part in "Junior" Junior handling and won a first and second rosette.

Below is Christopher with an absolutely gorgeous EP Cambridge girl who we borrowed for him - thank you to them for the loan!

Christopher paying careful attention to his alpaca
Christopher being grilled by the judge...
Christopher showing off (his animal?)
Isla carefully leading Inca Drambuie
Isla being quizzed by the judge Nick Harrington-Smith. Have to say what a great job he did giving them an interesting task to compete and quizzing them to their level.
Christopher and IslaIn the final line up, rosettes in hand.
It was great to see so many friends do well with their animals. A special congratulations to the mighty Patou and Penny and dad of our latest addition Erica; Sir Cambridge Columbus and of course to Inca who as usual got plenty of rosettes but extra specially Reserve Champion Senior Male with Lilyfield Jack of Spades of Inca against all the other colours - some achievement! Below is the man himself.
We did get some time to relax as well. Here is the family having a train ride, whilst naturally I had to stay behind to photograph, Pimms in hand :o)
