Halter Training

We decided to do a spot of halter training this afternoon. Although Clover has been on the halter a number of times in order to go to the futurity, Cinammon has only been on once and Calendiva hasn't at all. As you can see Clover and Cinnamon were very well behaved, however Calendiva would rather be elsewhere......I promise, despite how it may look in the photo, Richard wasn't actually kicking her!!!

We did have fun and the kids are getting more and more competant handling them. I normally have the luxury of taking in the ring pre-trained alpacas since I show Inca and Moonsbrooks for them and have only halter trained them on the rare occassions I have been there when they have been training. So this is a novelty to have some of my own to train and show! It gives you some appreciation of what is involved prior to the bit I normally do!

Mind you give me an alpaca in the ring rather than a dog any day - it's much more enjoyable!

I see - just a friendly nudge with the foot!!! I hope it worked. Sometimes alpacas can be infuriating. We are having problems with our Kara who is not happy at having an injection every 2nd day! As for our crias - well, they are a wild bunch. Thankfully they don't have to be trained in a hurry.
